Insiders' perspectives on Denmark & the Danes

All international students at the University of Copenhagen are hereby invited to contribute to a book that paints a scientific picture of Denmark and the Danes - seen from the outside, on the inside.

Bring your expertise into play and write an article where you discuss Denmark; its inhabitants, their traditions, customs, culture, language, community, etc. Use methods, theories, and perspectives form your degree - and be a part of creating a diverse and nuanced picture of Denmark.

The book will be released in February 2021 - and you will, of course, receive a copy.

Length: 4,500 - 7,500 characters with spaces

Deadline: January 28, 2021

The text must be based on your major study’s competences, and deal with Denmark or the Danes.

  • Write to a newspaper reader, who might not know very much about your study and its field - but is curious and wants to learn more about it.

  • Focus on a specific insight, analysing and discussing a particular research question rather than the methodological considerations or detailed introductions to the field, actors and theories.

  • Short introduction and conclusion.

  • Lively language and subjective judgements are welcome.

  • No table of contents, but inspirational titles and headings are encouraged.

  • Bibliographies are welcome, but it will be posted exclusively online - and not printed in the book.
